New iPhone DAC

The “COZOY” thumb drive size DAC converter is on its way to me from Hong Kong and won’t arrive until the last part of June.

You can find it at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UV8PBRI/ref=pe_385040_128020140_TE_3p_dp_1 for $129.90 with free shipping

COZOY

I am really looking forward to test the difference of its D/A conversion vs the iphone’s built in converter while listening to high sample rate music. I am really digging the streaming service Tidal right now, and plan to test my hi-fi downloads to see if I can tell any difference with high quality headphones.

There seems to be a lot of service enhancements to existing music streaming services lately, while a whole bunch of new ones trying to get exposure with Apple’s “Beats” being one of them. And there seems to be a great big unfair advantage when Apple launches the new streaming service (rumored to be unveiled at the WWDC June 8th thru 12th). The unfair advantage is because NOW all other streaming services that have an app on the Apple app store, will need to shell out 30% of their service fees to Apple, which is causing a lot of them to RAISE their service fees by 30% to accommodate their price gouging.

This type of price gouging is similar to Apple’s 30% cut of AT&T’s data plan when the first iPhone was launched in 2007. Apple had nothing to do with the data being piped to their phones but they wanted a cut AND they required everyone that bought an iPhone, to sign up for the $30 a month unlimited data plan. This was in a day when you could comfortably use a cell phone without needing a data plan because apps were scarce. Subsequently many of the first iPhone adopters have “grandfathered” in their unlimited plans to this day.

Anyway, I digress … watch for the full review after I get a chance to test the new “Cozoy” D/A converter soon!
